Watch Week 2022 is upon us, and Bvlgari has many watches that will catch your eye. Let’s start with an established favorite. The sleek and elegant Serpenti by Bvlgari is an iconic design that has seen many reinterpretations, with great success.
The Bvlgari Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery Secret Watches are elegant and luxurious, yet also playful and mysterious. These Serpenti Misteriosi watches bring together the Maison’s watchmaking experience to create mechanical movements in miniature, and their oh-so-dazzling gems and jewels.
Creating a micro-movement is a no small achievement (no pun intended) and Bvlgari is showcasing this in their Serpenti Misteriosi watches. Though, thanks to the ‘mysterious’ part, you might actually think the watch is a bracelet instead. Such is the skill and craftsmanship – and playfulness – that hides a small watch inside an already-impressive jeweled serpent.
Each of the four Serpenti models is powered by the Piccolissimo mechanical movement, which may be small in size, but it is big in technical chops. A mere 12.3 mm in diameter and 2.5 mm in thickness, the BVL100 calibre hides inside the head of the serpent. Aside from the size, another interesting part of this movement is the balance wheel, executed in white gold.
The tongue of the serpent is more than just a design feature, it is essentially the key to this Serpenti’s mystery. A gentle press on the tongue causes the snakehead to open and reveal the delicate watch. The double-tour bracelet adds to the allure and glamour of each piece.
The Bvlgari Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery Ref. No. 103559 is a black-lacquered rose gold case with two pear-cut diamonds for the eyes. I think of this as the rock star Serpenti, with the black and rose gold creating a very bold combination.
The Bvlgari Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery Ref. No. 103560 is a white gold case with green lacquer treatment and two pear-cut emeralds for the eyes. Adding to the dazzle here are 369 diamonds placed along the double-tour bracelet. The green and white gold create a very calming aesthetic.
The Bvlgari Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery, Ref. No 103558 is another rose gold case but this time partnered with turquoise inserts along the double-tour bracelet and 2 pear-cut rubellites for the eyes. The 724 diamonds on the bracelet make the turquoise the accents on this serpent.
The Bvlgari Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery Ref. no. 103561 is also a white gold case but has diamonds and more diamonds, making it the most dazzling of these four Serpentis. The diamonds on the serpent head and tail and along the bracelet number 795 in total, with 2 pear-cut emeralds as eyes drawing your attention to the serpent head.
But wait, there is more…
The Bvlgari Serpenti Misteriosi Romani Ref. No 102987 is the luxurious cuff-style watch and bracelet you didn’t realize you needed in your life. The combination of white gold, dazzling diamonds, and stunning sapphires make this the statement piece of all statement pieces. The Jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) agrees and in 2019 awarded this piece the Jewellery Watch Prize. The one-of-a-kind creation features a 10-carat Sri Lankan sapphire, more than 60 carats of diamonds, and an additional 35 carats of sapphires
