Rolls-Royce Bespoke has had its most successful year in its 118-year history, as clients from all over the world explored the virtually limitless possibilities of Bespoke personalisation. This has resulted in a record-breaking total value of commissions for a single year.

In 2022, the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective captured clients’ dreams in rare, precious, and emotionally resonant luxury objects. The bespoke artistry explored various themes, including the mystery of the aurora borealis, the symbolism of orchids, the iridescent elegance of pearls, and the latest fashion movements, among others.

At Goodwood, every Rolls-Royce is hand-built as a bespoke motor car, tailored precisely to the client’s wishes. Commissioning a Rolls-Royce motor car is a highly personal and often private process, with many clients choosing to keep their masterpiece to themselves rather than revealing it to the public.

The following ten examples represent only a small selection of the many marvellous creations designed and hand-built at the Home of Rolls-Royce, reflecting the brand’s stature as a true House of Luxury and showcasing some of the finest examples of Bespoke craftsmanship created in 2022.

PHANTOM ‘THE SIX ELEMENTS’
The Phantom Gallery presents an exceptional platform for creative expression, as evidenced by the ‘The Six Elements’ collection. This collection features six one-of-a-kind Phantoms, each adorned with an exquisite hand-painted artwork by the highly acclaimed British artist, Sacha Jafri.

Sacha Jafri’s signature style, known as ‘Magical Realism,’ showcases vibrant and emotional pieces that capture the essence of nature’s most powerful components – Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Air, along with the sixth element, Humanity.

This exceptional artistic project raised $1.2 million for charity, with a distinctive digital collectible included in each Phantom, making this series a “Rolls-Royce” that continues to give back.

AURORA BOREALIS WRAITHS
The Bespoke Collective has created two Bespoke Wraiths that are inspired by the magnificent spectacle of the northern lights, which capture the essence of nature’s celebrated light show. To reflect the iridescent beauty of the night-time polar display, the Bespoke Collective has developed two new paint hues named Aurora Blue and Borealis Green. These hues have been carefully crafted to eagerly capture the ethereal splendour of this natural wonder.

The interior of each Wraith boasts multicoloured Starlight Headliners that feature a constellation of blue, green, and white fibreoptic ‘stars.’ The Bespoke Collective invested countless hours to achieve the perfect placement of the lights, evoking the ethereal beauty of the aurora borealis.

PHANTOM PAISLEY GALLERY
This Gallery showcases a unique piece of art, which features an exquisite interpretation of the intricate paisley pattern that has embellished luxurious items for centuries. The artwork is entirely hand-embroidered using Navy Blue, Arctic White, and Forge Yellow thread, and it comprises of 90,000 individual stitches. The artist skillfully combines run stitching and satin bordering to create a stunning texture that took more than 40 hours to complete. The artwork comprises of three seamlessly connected elements that are positioned with millimeter-perfect precision, making it a true masterpiece.

CULLINAN FROZEN LAKES
The Bespoke Cullinans have been customized to create an enchanting winter wonderland experience for their passengers. The interior features a hand-painted fascia and picnic tables, adorned with a design inspired by cracked ice patterns, meticulously painted in multiple layers with various colors. The entire process took over two weeks to complete, resulting in a stunning three-dimensional effect. The Bespoke Starlight Headliner required an additional 18 hours to achieve a similar effect.

The exterior of the vehicle is finished in Crystal over Midnight Sapphire and Blue Crystal over Arctic, capturing the sharpness, shimmer, and depth of ice surfaces.

PHANTOM SAPPHIRE ASTRUM GALLERY
A unique creation by Astrum, the Gallery boasts a stunning starburst design with solid silver spears that fan out from a platinum-mounted diamond and culminate in pear-cut sapphires. The backing of the Gallery is engraved with an intricate guilloché effect in a rich sapphire lacquer known as Bleu de Nuit, which heightens the brilliance of the precious stones. The clock’s sterling silver surround also features a complementary guilloché pattern and a Sapphire Blue lacquer overlay that adds dimension and iridescence to the clockface.

PEBBLE BEACH COLLECTION GHOSTS
These two Ghosts were specifically created to showcase the bespoke capabilities of the Rolls-Royce brand at the prestigious Pebble Beach gathering in California. They feature two sparkling finishes that highlight their iridescent nature – Crystal over Sagano Green and a shimmering finish with gold mica flakes over Sequoia Green. The six-layer finish is achieved through careful hand polishing, and the Crystal finish is applied before the final clear coatings, using minute particles of color specks to create a luxurious, multi-dimensional shimmer.

PHANTOM ORCHID – TIMELESS ELEGANCE
This Phantom is a unique creation that draws inspiration from the Singapore Orchid, an emblem of strength, beauty, and resilience. The focal point of this bespoke vehicle is a hand-crafted Gallery, sculpted by acclaimed artist Helen Amy Murray, featuring stunning three-dimensional silk flowers.

The theme of the orchid is carried throughout the car’s design, from the intricately crafted picnic table inlays to the treadplates. The exterior is finished in a special Singapore Orchid Pearl White paint, infused with a touch of violet and delicate glass particles to produce a mesmerizing pearlescent effect. The vehicle is further adorned with an exquisite Orchid coachline, adding to its allure.

FUX BRIGHT YELLOW DAWN
Michael Fux, a committed car collector and loyal customer of the brand, has added another unique creation to his collection with the introduction of the stunning Bespoke Dawn. This exquisite vehicle, adorned in the vibrant Fux Bright Yellow, is a custom-made design created exclusively for him, featuring a dazzling exterior finish, premium leather upholstery, detailed top stitching, a two-tone steering wheel, and coloured wheel centres that pay homage to its distinctive hue.

PHANTOM PLATINO
This bespoke creation takes its name from platinum’s distinctive silver-white appearance and boasts a unique interior that blends two distinct fabrics. The first fabric, produced by an Italian mill, is a durable yet luxuriously elegant material. The second fabric, derived from bamboo fibers, was chosen for its lustrous finish. Both fabrics feature an original repeating pattern inspired by an abstract interpretation of the Spirit of Ecstasy, which is also echoed in the Gallery. The Starlight Headliner is a one-of-a-kind design, with stars arranged in a sweeping arc that draws the eye towards the rear, including shooting stars that follow the same pattern.

CULLINAN INSPIRED BY FASHION
The Bespoke collection named ‘Cullinan – Inspired by Fashion’ consists of two sets, each comprising four cars that showcase different aspects of fashion. The Re-Belle cars are visually striking and celebrate the beauty of block colours, with external finishes in Lime Green, Gunmetal, Wildberry, and Arctic White, and interiors featuring accents in either Lime Green or Peony Pink. On the other hand, the Fu-Shion cars are finished with Military Green, Burnout Grey, Forge Yellow, and Tempest Grey exteriors, with contrasting Mandarin or Forge Yellow accents in their interiors.

As part of this commission, the Bespoke designers have created an innovative feature called the Starlight Tailgate. This unique feature includes 192 softly illuminated stars that have been integrated into the perforated leather upholstery, extending the iconic Starlight Headliner beyond the interior when the tailgate is opened.
