Powerful Collections from Cartier

Two collections from Cartier means double the beauty and sophistication.

One is good, but two is better. Cartier brings us two collections to gaze at and wish for. Let’s look at the watches before we move on to the clocks.

The Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux Watch is a mystifying presentation of the tourbillon, as the entire movement seems to float weightless within the case. The Roman numerals used for the hours markers are classic and bring visual balance to the tourbillon in the center. This watch has a beaded crown with an aquamarine cabochon and a blue alligator leather strap.

The Rotonde de Cartier Astrotourbillon Watch has a tourbillon, but there is another design aspect to this timepiece that, well, is actually what is not there. This watch is a skeleton watch, meaning the mechanism is even more exposed. The tourbillon carriage has a rotation axis in the center of the movement, and is positioned above the movement instead of being integrated into it. The 6- and 12-hour markers in Roman numerals act as bridges, adding to clean and interesting aesthetic. This watch has a beaded crown with an aventurine cabochon and a blue alligator leather strap.

The Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Mysterious Double Tourbillon Watch is the prized item in this trio. The double tourbillon has no upper bridge, and seems to float freely as it completes its rotation in 60 seconds. And it won’t stop there – it has a second rotation to complete an orbit every five minutes. The calibre is at the center of the skeletonized dial, and the Roman numerals make an appearance again. This watch has a beaded crown with a jade cabochon and a green alligator leather strap.

These three beautiful tourbillon watches come in a beautiful lacquered wooden box. Proof positive that Cartier craftsmanship is not limited to a timepiece, the box is a marvel in wood marquetry. Slender pieces of six different shades of green, blue, and grey create an interlocking spiral pattern. Look closely and you’ll see a watch at the center of each spiral. The box includes a travel pouch in alligator leather, and a pair of cuff links in white gold with interchangeable stone bars in sodalite, jade, and blue quarter. This exquisite ultra-exclusive Rotonde de Cartier Icons set edition is limited to just 5 boxes.

Moving on to the Mini Mystery Clocks, we will see that Cartier may downscale the size but definitely not the intensity.

The mini Panthère Mystery Clock is presented in smaller, more delicate proportions. This mini clock has 24 months of hard work behind it, with components developed and assembled in the Cartier Manufacture. The delicate creation comes in three different versions: yellow, pink, or blue.

The craftsmanship is exquisite and the tie is displayed on the circular diamond-set bezel. The yellow enamel version has a sunray motif, while the pink and blue versions have concentric circles. The hours at 3, 6, 9 and 12 are marked by yellow sapphires or baguette-cut diamonds. The panther is front and center on the base of each mini clock. The deep black obsidian provides a stark backdrop to the sleek panther, and each panther has diamonds for the body, with emerald eyes, black lacquer spots, and a black onyx nose.

Whether you prefer tourbillons or panthers, Cartier has a collection that will satisfy your horological desires.
