Casually Sporty

Alpina Watches introduced the first Horological Smartwatch collection in 2015. This year, they expand this collection by adding a more casual piece in their lineup.

Alpina is a fine watchmaking manufacture famous for its red triangle signature. It was founded in 1883 and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. After more than 130 years of watchmaking experience, Alpina has had numerous patents and innovative calibres on its collar. In 1930, Alpina created a sports watch called the Alpina 4. The number 4 alluded to the four essential qualities that a sports watch should have: 1) anti-magnetic, 2) water-resistant, 3) shock resistant, and 4) encased in a robust stainless steel case. These four qualities quickly became the “must haves” in a sports watch. Today, Alpina is one of the very few Swiss watch companies that develops, produces, and assembles its movements entirely in-house.

Download the application to your smartphone, set your preferences or goals, then pair it with your watch. It's as simple as that.

After more than a century, Alpina still remains faithful to its long tradition of innovation. With tradition in their hearts, they set out on a mission to design and engineer luxury sports watches that can operate in the most demanding environments but still perform with the greatest precision and reliability.

Last year, Alpina created a new watch segment in the industry by releasing the world’s first Smartwatch collection. More than a gadget, the Smartwatch offered groundbreaking technology in a package that is still visually appealing to watch lovers. If you didn’t know that it was a Smartwatch, you would think that it was an ordinary mechanical or quartz watch with a sub dial at the six o’clock position.

This year, Alpina adds on to the collection with the new Alpina Horological Smartwatch. The execution of this timepiece is presented in a more casual, subtle look in comparison to the previous models. This new and elegant execution features a polished and brushed stainless steel case that measures 44 mm in diameter. It is combined with a classy navy sunray dial and paired with a genuine brown-colored leather strap.

The navy sunray dial with beige luminous indexes displays central hours and minute hands. The “smart” counter is still located at the bottom of the dial. The small red hand indicates the date during the activity-tracking mode and will point out the moon during your sleep-tracking mode. The small steel hand shows you the percentage of your activity or sleep goals. And since the new Alpina Horological Smartwatch is not a gadget or device, there is no need to charge it everyday. It will keep on running for at least 2 years.

The new Alpina Horological Smartwatch has an activity-tracking feature. It will help you keep track of your daily steps, the calories you burned, and the total distance of your steps. All you need to do is to download the MMT-365 app to your smartphone, set your preferences (the steps you want to complete per day), sync it with the watch and you’re all set. You may have a lot of “down time” at the office, when you are sitting behind your desk. The new Alpina Horological Smartwatch can send you an alert to remind you to move when you’ve been idle for a set amount of time. You can customize this as well on the app.

Aside from tracking your activity and sleep, this watch has a dynamic coach function with allows you to get suggestions, tips, and information catered to you, based on your activity and sleep goals.

You can also set your watch to keep track of your sleep. Wear your watch at night or put it under your pillow to record your sleep. The sleep tracking function will provide details on how much time you spent in deep sleep, light sleep, or wake times. You can also set the watch to help you wake up at the best appropriate time in your sleep cycle so that you wake up even more refreshed and recharged.

If you are a frequent traveller, crossing time zones will never be a problem. The Alpina Horological Smartwatch picks up the time from your smartphone and displays the new time automatically. A new feature for this latest iteration is the world timer function. Now, you can always keep track of your hometown’s time by simply entering your city into the app. This allows you to know when you can call your loved ones or business partners back home.

The watch independently records all your activity and sleep for 30 days without having to synchronize it to your smartphone. This is especially useful when you are on a business trip and don’t have the time to sync and document your records.

With the new Alpina Horological Smartwatch, you can now keep track of your health in style, casually. No need for digital bracelets that clash with your suit. The Alpina Horological Smartwatch is all you need. Alpina not only created a new segment in the watch industry, they also added a new meaning to “smart-casual.”
