TAG Heuer has revisited its best-selling model this year to produce a stylish, vintage-inspired chronograph version that harks back to the brand’s rich automotive heritage.
2018 marks the 55th anniversary of the iconic TAG Heuer Carrera collection. Since it was launched in 1963, this model has become synonymous with motor sport timekeeping. Several legendary drivers have chosen to wear a Heuer Carrera chronograph during their career.
Werner Aisslinger is world renowned. Since 2007, he and Tina Bunyaprasit have led the industry-acclaimed studio aisslinger, located in Berlin and Singapore. Aisslinger and his team gained their reputation with work for the furniture producer Vitra, futuristic hotels, the mobile living solution loftcube, with greenhouse-inspired kitchens and renewable chairs—and a design approach that is both pioneering and sustainable. Aisslinger’s blueprints can be found in numerous museums: the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York, Fonds national d’art contemporain in Paris, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, to name a few.
TAG Heuer has now unveiled two new stylish, vintage-inspired timepieces featuring the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 chronograph with a 41mm diameter: a black version with a black leather strap and a blue version with a steel bracelet. With touches of red, the colours, contrasts and position of the counters are all clear references to motor sport.
Two sporty models with a vintage signature produced by the three white counters, which stand out starkly against a dial featuring a white flange with a 60-second scale. The seconds counter is at 9 o’clock, the minute counter at 12 o’clock and the hour counter at 6 o’clock. The bezel is made from ceramic, and features a tachometer scale – a crucial component on an automotive chronograph.
The black version is adorned with a magnificent perforated black leather strap with red stitching. The blue version features a steel bracelet for maximum comfort. These two seriously sporty models are beautiful additions to the TAG Heuer Carrera collection.
