TAG Heuer is releasing three new color versions of the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01. These three new models will bring the Skeleton Manufacture Chronograph out into the world in the colors of black, navy blue, or cognac brown.

The colors on offer are all sure to be popular. I may not be a huge fan of cognac brown, but many others are sure to welcome it. And never yet met a black watch I didn’t like. The blue is also a great choice, a first choice, in fact, for many. So whichever of these new colors you end up flagging down, you will be in good company.

As a salute to their racing heritage, all three of these watches, like their predecessors, will have the chronograph elements done up in — what else? — red. Thus, you can count on being able to spot your watch’s chronograph central seconds hand, the 30-minute counter, the 12-hour counter, and the Start/Stop push-button, all done up in eye-catching high-visibility red.

TAG Heuer’s racing background is well-known, and they continue to maintain an intimate association with motor sports. The roots of the bond go back to Jack Heuer and his hands-on racing affiliations, with all the many articles that he designed to link motor racing and timekeeping. In many minds, there is no longer any way to have one without the other. Motor sports isn’t just about the finish line, it’s about the lap time too. And no winner ever crossed the finish line and said “Eh, the time probably doesn’t matter.” Well, okay, maybe that happens. Some car races last 24 hours, after all. If I’d been racing for even a third of that time (and they DO break up the endurance races now, to keep things safe) I would totally cross the line and the first words out of my mouth would be “Shower. Water. Cheeseburger.” But, as we may assume, I am driven not so much by the Gods Of Racing as are some other hardy souls on this planet.

The 2015 original TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 had a 45mm case size. These new models are slightly smaller, coming in at 43mm. These cases are made of either brushed steel or matte-black ceramic. There are straps of leather and of rubber, and bracelets of steel, depending on taste and climate.

In all cases, though, you will find the TAG Heuer Calibre HEUER-01, the manufacture automatic chronograph with date. The movement gets the designation 0-1 as it was the first of a new generation of chronographs. The skeleton dial ensures that you will have excellent visibility through to the works, whether you are monitoring daily time or checking laps at the races.
