Louis Vuitton x Akrivia: The LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie Collaboration

When Craftsmanship Meets Creativity in Haute Horlogerie

In a historic collaboration following the 2023 Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives, Louis Vuitton and Atelier Akrivia present the LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie. This exceptional timepiece, marking a union of two prestigious brands, embodies the essence of both Maison’s dedication to craftsmanship and innovation.

Louis Vuitton, founded in 1854, and Atelier Akrivia, established in 2012, may have been born more than a century apart, but they share a profound passion for fine watchmaking and a commitment to preserving horological traditions. This unique partnership resulted from the conception of the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives and the shared values that these two houses hold dear.

The LVRR-01 is a work of art that serves as a profound time meditation. It has a tourbillon regulator for precise timekeeping and an industry-first sonnerie mechanism. The watch has a clever double-faced display, with a modern front dial in tinted sapphire crystal and a traditional white grand feu enamel face on the back. This duality represents the two prominent brands’ seamless combination of identities.

Within the LVRR-01 is a groundbreaking calibre, meticulously developed by Rexhep Rexhepi. This inverted movement design allows the chronograph and sonnerie mechanisms to be visible on the front of the watch, showcasing traditional hand-applied decoration, anglage, and black polishing. The tourbillon at six o’clock completes a five-minute rotation, inspired by historical chronometers.

The most distinctive feature of the LVRR-01 is the integration of the chronograph and sonnerie, alongside the tourbillon. The chronograph functions are controlled by a pusher at two o’clock and accompanied by a harmonious chime, signifying the passage of every minute. The innovative energy management system ensures that these complications work in perfect synergy.

The platinum case of the LVRR-01 is a harmonic combination of Louis Vuitton’s Tambour design with Rexhep Rexhepi’s artistic touches. Its sleek, streamlined design, finished with a characteristic chamfered crown, demonstrates the brand’s dedication to both heritage and modernity. Jean-Pierre Hagmann, master casemaker, supervises the case’s production to ensure the highest quality.

The two faces of time come to life on the LVRR-01’s dials. The front dial, contemporary in style, is adorned with gold cubes filled with translucent fired enamel, reminiscent of Louis Vuitton’s patented Spin Time complication. The rear face is an ode to traditional measuring instruments, crafted in glossy white grand feu enamel. Both dials elegantly bisect the brand names, signifying a true collaboration.

Every LVRR-01 comes in a custom Louis Vuitton traditional trunk, hand-painted with motifs inspired by the enamel dial, the “AKRILVIA” logo, and a unique serial number. The watch is paired with a Louis Vuitton cowhide leather strap and a platinum pin buckle crafted by Jean-Pierre Hagmann.

The LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie is a testament to the creative spirit and dedication to excellence shared by Louis Vuitton and Atelier Akrivia. This remarkable collaboration pushes the boundaries of Haute Horlogerie, uniting craftsmanship and creativity in a timepiece that is both a work of art and a precision instrument, a true reflection of two extraordinary Maison’s legacies.
