DOXA watches have had a long and intertwined history with the sea, diving and divers themselves. It makes complete sense that they come in strong to one of the most important diving destinations in the world.

They did this at The Plunge Dive Club, a dive pool with attached teaching facilities and a cafe at the Ortigas Technopoint Parking Structure. They combined talks on the history of DOXA, both from the brand and distributor, but also casually from dive masters, freedivers and fans of the DOXA that were guests. An excellent combination of true knowledge and true enthusiasm.

DOXA Watches CEO Jan Edocs flew in for the occasion and the formalization of the partnership with Watchworks Philippines as the Official Philippine Distributor of the brand. Mr. Edocs has been in the watch industry, as he said, since forever. He discussed the history of DOXA as a creator of what the diving community needed as a tool. This included the testing of colors that provided enough background to be readable as you went further down into the sea and light changed. That is why there are several different available colors for DOXA watch faces, especially the famous orange that has been taken up by so many. They explained the special markings on the bezel that allow quick calculation of no-decompression diving times.

He also talked about the history of the DOXA Army watch, which came about because of the then-classified need for Swiss Army divers which no one really knew existed at the time. The end result is a very different DOXA look and one that has been taken up by many enthusiasts for a great piece of a specific time period and indeed part of history.

Watches shown, displayed and taken home by happy enthusiasts include the classic Sub 300s in steel with the beads of rice bracelet, but also special pieces such as the Clive Cussler Model, the DOXA Army and some special pieces in forged carbon fiber.
