De Bethune and Swizz Beatz celebrated the release of DBD “Season 2” with a private brunch launch party held on March 19 at the new WatchBox lounge in West Hollywood. Celebrity guests such as Alicia Keys and LL Cool J attended the event.
In 2021, De Bethune and Swizz Beatz collaborated for the first time to create the Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon “Season 1”. The watch’s transparent and luminous design broke away from the collection’s existing aesthetic codes by revealing all its intricate details through its sapphire crystal.
Remaining true to its essence, De Bethune has now unveiled DBD “Season 2,” representing the culmination of a continuous quest where beauty meets virtuosity. The timepiece’s understated aesthetic hints at the complexity involved in its creation.
The first DBD launched in 2006 with a hand-wound movement that drove an in-line triple calendar and digital time display, which offered a unique interpretation of watches and became a milestone in the industry. The new DBD “Season 2” is designed in collaboration with Swizz Beatz and features a light anthracite-colored polished zirconium case with 12 o’clock crown and ogival lugs that convey a modern and futuristic nature.
The burgundy dial adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif reveals subtle light effects in harmony with the wearer’s wrist movements. The DBD “Season 2” boasts five discs visible through Art Deco-style apertures at 12 o’clock that indicate the day, date, and month in linear mode. The jumping hours and scrolling minutes appear opposite each other on the lower half of the dial. The dial’s Côtes de Genève pattern is the watch’s most significant innovation and was first introduced in the world by De Bethune in 2006.
The watch is powered by a mechanical hand-wound Calibre DB2044 that operates at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and features the latest titanium balance with white gold inserts and the triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system. The DBD “Season 2” is a tribute to creativity, innovation, and the art of watchmaking, combining De Bethune’s watchmaking quality and expertise with Swizz Beatz’s distinctive aesthetic. It comes in a 13-piece numbered limited edition, with a burgundy fabric strap matching the dial and an extra-supple black alligator leather strap. The watch’s reverse side features outstanding workmanship visible through the double glare-proofing treatment of the sapphire crystal and a duly engraved caseback.
