Revving Up Style: The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Aston Martin Edition

A stunning watch that blends precision, style, and innovation in one unforgettable timepiece.

Girard-Perregaux once again collaborated with famed British car maker Aston Martin to come up with its latest timepiece, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Aston Martin edition.

This exceptional timepiece is the natural progression of the partnership of both luxury brands, now, its latest offering is a ceramic watch in the iconic color that is British Racing Green. Deeply rooted in the annals of British motorsports, the color is an homage to country’s rich racing history; back in early years of motor racing it was customary to race in your country’s colors, unfortunately, racing was illegal in England, thus British gentlemen drivers went over to Ireland to race; when the ban was lifted, British drivers kept the color as a form of gratitude to their hosts, thus was born the color we all know and love, British Racing Green.

Coming up with a ceramic timepiece has certain issues, since it comes from one block, it was vital to heat up the ceramic to 1500 degrees to highlight the color of the metal oxide and ensure a homogeneous shade of green. While the rich monochrome color was the first aspect of the design, there were many layers to the creation of the Laureato, like, the cross-hatching of the dial with seven layers of paint which allows the wearer to have a nice light reflection and have the particular intensity of green; to the central seconds hand counterbalance, a nod to the “side-strike” of the Aston Martin found from the early DB4’s, DB5’s, all the way up to the modern Aston Martin models.

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Aston Martin is available in 38mm and the 42mm, limited to 188 and 388 pieces, respectively. The 38mm features the locally manufactured 03300 calibre (Ref: 81005-32-3080-1CX). It has a 10 mm thick satin finished green ceramic case, water resistant to a depth of 100m, the glass is made up of anti-reflective sapphire crystal, with a power reserve of 46 hours. The 42mm uses the 01800 calibre (Ref: 81010-32-3081-1CX), which is sought after by connoisseurs, mainly due to the perfect proportion of the thickness and diameter; which is the reason why Girard-Perregaux produced more of the 42mm than the 38mm. Similar to the 38mm, the 42mm is offered in a green ceramic case with a satin finish, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, water resistant to 100m, with a 54-hour power reserve. Both timepieces come with a polished, and satin finished green ceramic bracelet.

The timing of the launch of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Aston Martin was fortuitous; two days prior, at the 2023 Formula 1 season opener in Bahrain, former two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso after starting from 5th on the grid, raced up the field and crossed the finish line to take 3rd place, while his team mate Lance Stroll took the checkered flag in 6th place, making this the best start of the season for the British squad.

Pricing for Girard-Perregaux Laureato Aston Martin is around £19,300 for the 38mm while the 42mm is priced at £ 19,900, it will be available at all Girard-Perregaux point of sales, with an expected worldwide release in June this year.
