Classic Ivory

One of the best-selling watches of Frederique Constant is the Slimline Moonphase from the Manufacture Collection. This year, the brand beefs it up with an addition.

Based in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva, Frederique Constant is a company that involves its departments in all stages of watch production. Representatives from the sales, marketing, communication, and workshop departments all gather in the discussion process in coming up with a new watch design. The lively discussions are a testament to each and every person’s passion for watches, as ideas are thrown on the table. Once an idea has been agreed on, designers put the idea onto a drawing. From there, preparations are made for the specifications of each and every part that will comprise the new design.

The next step is to build a computer model using the latest software where specifications are refined to the most intricate detail: from the length of every spoke in a gear to the precise measurement of a hole’s diameter. Once this is done, a prototype is then assembled.

The new Slimline Moonphase has a classic design that offers pure legibility.

Every visible surface of the movement is decorated by hand, from Cotés de Geneve patterns to perlage and rhodiage. Every time the owner looks at the movement, he will see the strict attention to detail Frederique Constant put into assembling his watch. Frederique Constant not only conceptualizes, designs, and produces their own watches, they also have their own quality control standards.

The most popular collection of the brand is the Manufacture Collection. This year, Frederique Constant adds on to this line with the release of the new Slimline Moonphase Manufacture. This watch, along with the previous models, possesses an ultra-flat profile, giving it a sleek elegance in its overall simplicity. This new version features a new ivory-colored dial with sunray decoration and applied silver color indexes. The ivory hue gives the watch a more vintage, stylish aura. The dial displays the central hour and minutes hands and the detailed moonphase and date counter at six o’clock balance the simple design.

It comes in a polished stainless steel case size of 42 mm, making it easy to wear for people with smaller wrists. The see-through case back allows the wearer to admire the FC-705 Manufacture caliber, an automatic movement that beats at 28,800 alt/h, decked with 26 jewels, and 42 hours of power reserve. This movement allows the wearer to make adjustments to the time, moonphase, and date via the crown.

The new Slimline Moonphase Manufacture watch is simple in design. Yet, it exudes a certain degree of style that can be matched with a boardroom or a stroll on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Its simplicity makes it easy to read the time. That is, after all, the main function of a watch. This new iteration adds the element of a vintage feel coupled with modern lines that make the new Slimline Moonphase Manufacture timeless in design.
