Unveiling Vintage Style And Automobile Innovation At Goodwood Revival

Rolex has a long-standing admiration for the beauty of historic cars.

This year ’s Goodwood Revival will not only celebrate the past of the automobile, but also its future, a first for the event, which is to be staged at the legendar y Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, England from Friday 0 8 – Sunday 10 September. In addition to being treated to races between the world’s finest classic cars and parades throughout the weekend, motoring enthusiasts will also witness the Revival’s first-ever, highly-anticipated car launch, when the iconic British manufacturer TVR unveils its latest model.

Rolex has a long – standing admiration for the beauty of historic cars, suppor ting Goodwood Revival since 20 0 4 when the brand became Title Sponsor of the prestigious Drivers’ Club, a second home for drivers and their families during the event.

Thousands of visitors dressed in period out fits flock to Goodwood ever y year to be part of this magnificent, nostalgic weekend – the largest historic motor sport celebration in the world. Style will be the focus on and off the track, with an all-new “Revival Emporium Presented by Mastercard” exhibiting the very best of vintage men’s and ladies’ fashion through a series of eight catwalk shows each day. The flair and romance of the 19 4 0s, 50s and 60s will be brought to life for the many glamorous spectators attending through the alluring combination of fashion and wheel-to-wheel action.

Now in its 19th year, Goodwood Revival has hosted numerous legends of the sport and this year will be no exception, with Rolex Testimonees Sir Jackie Stewart and Tom Kristensen in attendance. Tom Kristensen will return to the track after his spectacular victory in last year’s Kinrara Trophy – the first running of the race. The 2017 edition will once again see the stunning pre-1963 GT cars race into the sunset, as the Rolex Clock on the Marshal Tower counts down the 60 -minute, two – driver contest. Audiences will delight in seeing the return of the Brooklands Trophy to an action – packed programme, which also features daily tributes to the Le Mans- winning Ecurie Ecosse team, sixty years after they took on one of motor sport’s biggest challenges and won it for the second time. Three of the team’s 11 original long-nose Jaguar D -Types will take part in high-speed track demonstrations during the Revival.

Over the course of the three days, the drivers, all determined to be first to the chequered flag, will also be looking to c atch the at tention of the judges who determine the Rolex Driver of the Meeting. The glittering summer of motor sport at Goodwood concludes when the Earl of March announces the winner at the prize – giving ceremony on the Race Control balcony.

Speaking ahead of the event, Sir Jackie Stewart said: “Goodwood Revival is the greatest celebration of its kind, not only do the very best cars come to the Revival but also the most passionate people. Rolex is at the ver y heart of the event – the great drivers and mechanics of the past and present are able to experience the Revival in a very privileged way at the Rolex Drivers’ Club. And of course the Rolex watches worn will add elegance to the attire and bring many a great stor y to the weekend.”

Rolex’s links to motor racing and speed date back to the 1930s when Sir Malcolm Campbell broke the 3 0 0 – mile per hour barrier at the wheel of his World L and Speed Record car, Bluebird, with a Rolex on his wrist. This pioneering moment of per formance and innovation represented a milestone in spor ting histor y and perfectly reflects Rolex’s culture.
