Taking a “well-oiled machine” To Another Level

U-Boat unveils a watch collection inspired by their darker side.

Italo Fontana takes us on a wild journey with his newest watch collection. He called it the Darkmoon. This collection got its name from the dark side of the moon, a place that is unseen, unexplored, unmapped, and wrapped in mystery. He takes the first step into that dark side by filling up the dial with oil.

The oil completely immerses the electromechanics of the timepiece, the Ronda Swiss quartz movement. The oily liquid completely covers the dial, turning it absolutely black, and giving it a three-dimensional and deep aesthetic. As mentioned, the oil fills the dial and kept in place by a curved mineral glass. A bubble is intentionally left in to allow the wearer to observe the oil as it moves around the confined space.

The Darkmoon collection comes in a 44 mm case. The five models are:

The Darkmoon 44 Red SS comes in a stainless steel AISI 316L case.

The Darkmoon 44 Red IPB’s case is stainless steel AISI 316L with subsequent treatment IPB.

The Darkmoon 44 SS is finished with a stainless steel AISI 316L case with beige hands and indices.

The Darkmoon 44 IPB has a stainless steel AISI 316L case with IPB treatment, embellished by beige hands and indices.

The Darkmoon 44 IP Bronze comes in a stainless steel AIAI 316L case with an IP bronze treatment.
