Staying active and staying healthy are two things that have been on everyone’s mind lately. We have moved past mere survival and are working to thrive in this new normal. Yes, things have changed and some things have become more difficult. But some things have also become easier.
It is easier to track progress when your gadgets are all interconnected. The same data is available on your watch or your phone. It’s also easier to stay motivated when there is quick gratification or immediate encouragement. TAG Heuer makes improving and staying active easier to track with the TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition wristwatch and the Wellness App for the Connected smartwatch. Let’s take a closer look.
Take a swing at it
TAG Heuer launched their Connected Golf Edition smartwatch in the middle of 2020, and it quickly became the go-to item for many golfers. The smartwatch had impressive 2D maps and realistic 3Q courses. TAG Heuer has improved on this smartwatch – in less than a year, mind you – by adding upgraded course maps with better details. And it being a Connected watch, the mobile application has similar improvements, whether your gadget is an Android or iOS. The iOS devices have a slight edge though, with the Apple SceneKit making the graphic renderings even more detailed.
Golfers using the TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition will still have the Driving Zone feature, which shows the landing zone of the tee shot. More than just a cool feature to have, this allows players to strategize immediately. After all, it’s all about the lie of the ball and the next shot. A new feature for the smartwatch is the club recommendation tool. Navigate the target on the map, and the watch recommends a club. Now this probably can’t take the place of a trusted caddie, but it’s still a good option to have. Since some tournaments or courses don’t allow this type of additional assistance, the feature can be disabled.
Golfers also enjoy the scorekeeping feature of the smartwatch during competitions or friendly games. And if you want to bring both your smartwatch and smartphone on the course, they will synch quickly due to the built-in Bluetooth ability. The shot-tracking feature can be activated by the top pusher, and records the distance you walk to the ball too.
As professional golfer and TAG Heuer brand ambassador Tommy Fleetwood says, “I love wearing this watch both on and off the course. The features are really well thought out, making the game more precise and I can’t think of a golfer whose game wouldn’t benefit from it. If I could choose one stand out feature for me, I really enjoy the distance shot feature, I see how my drive is performing on the golf course taking into account the real conditions I am playing in, the timing of this has worked perfectly for me as I’ve been testing my new clubs.”
The TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition is truly a luxury watch, not ‘just’ a smartwatch. The ultra-lightweight 45-mm black titanium case is refined and elegant, yet matches well with the white rubber strap. For a more discreet look, you can easily switch the white strap for a black one. There are other strap options available, such as perforated rubber in red, orange, blue, or khaki, or in green or brown leather. The watch comes with a travel pouch and golf accessory box.
TAG Heuer also introduces a Wellness app for those of us who might not be dedicated golfers, but still want to stay active and healthy. The introduction of the Wellness feature is proof that TAG Heuer is serious about their focus on health and fitness.
As TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault says, “With the Wellness app, we are adding a new pillar to our Connected watch product offering. Within a timeframe of a year, the TAG Heuer Connected has established its status in elegance and sports. It has been embraced by golfers, cyclists, runners and a wide range of other sports buffs. In addition to elegance and performance, our users also expressed a strong interest for tracking their wellness. We value their input; we know how important it is to remain active these days. And we created the TAG Heuer Connected Wellness app for them.”
If the TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition has a feature similar to a caddie, the Wellness feature is similar to having a fitness coach or gym buddy. The Wellness app can accommodate two daily goals and one weekly summary. The information is literally at your fingertips – on your wrist – how may steps you’ve taken and how much time you’ve spent a moderate or vigorous exercise level. It even has real-time and continuous heart rate monitoring and number of calories burned.
The wellness tab on the TAG Heuer Connected mobile application tracks all of these numbers for you and, more importantly, tracks your progress. You have the freedom to set your own goals, whether steps to achieve or length of exercise time, or even a dual goal. Once you continually hit your ‘little’ goals, you’re encouraged to do more. Your initial goal, like walking 5,000 steps, might become just part of your warm-up time as you increase your fitness and strength. The TAG Heuer Wellness app also allows you to move and improve at your own pace while tracking three simple points: steps, calories, active minutes.
The TAG Heuer Wellness app is part of the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatches. The watches are in titanium or stainless steel cases, with either a stainless steel bracelet or a rubber strap, and have several dial options to choose from.
The TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition and the TAG Heuer Connected Wellness are clearly steps in the right direction.
