Rolex: Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Celebrating 70 years of automotive excellence.

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® resumed last August, from the 12th to the 15th.  First held in 1950, the Concours celebrates its 70th anniversary this 2021, as last year’s event was postponed.

Rolex has been supporting this event for more than two decades now, emphasizing its commitment to the evolution of motoring style and engineering, and the long-term quest for the preservation and promotion of heritage. During this highly anticipated week, the Swiss watch brand also partners the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance®, the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion, and The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering.

The Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance® pays tribute to the original Pebble Beach Road Races, last held in 1956. This exhibition of beauty in motion will trace sections of the famous 17-mile Drive that go through Carmel Valley and passing along Highway 1 to Big Sur, before circling back towards Pebble Beach for the finish line.

The Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion hosts hundreds of historic racing cars. The period-correct automobiles are tested to the limit around the challenging 11-corner circuit of the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, demonstrating the diverse categories and engineering developments of motor sports from one era to the next.

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering takes place in Carmel Valley, when the past, present, and future of automobile come together. Leading manufacturers debut new models here, alongside an exhibition of rare vintage cars.

On the final day, participants and spectators gather together on the 18th fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Links®, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, to witness exceptionally maintained automobiles. Previous Best of Show winners will be featured alongside other marques and classes. Competing entrants will be assessed on their style, technical merit, provenance and history by expert judges throughout the day, vying for the honour to be called the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® Best of Show that will be awarded during the closing ceremony. The winning owner will be presented with a specially engraved Rolex timepiece.

Rolex Testimonee and 3-time FIA Formula 1® Driver’s World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart said: “Pebble Beach is the best concours d’elegance in the world. The spectators witness an exclusive collection of automobiles, some created before they were even born, as well as modern vehicles presented in a very glamorous setting. For Rolex it is a marvellous relationship because passionate car and watch aficionados understand the great privilege of owning something very special, with great history and elegance.”
