The upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona, scheduled from Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 January at the renowned Daytona International Speedway®, marks the beginning of the 2024 racing season and the 65th anniversary of the iconic race. Rolex’s longstanding commitment to motorsport is epitomized by its title sponsorship since 1992, championing human endeavor, engineering excellence, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. The 62nd edition welcomes 56 past winners and luminaries from the world of motorsport, including Rolex Testimonee and 2009 FIA Formula 1® Drivers’ World Champion, Jenson Button.
Button, joining the Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport team alongside Colton Herta, Jordan Taylor, and Louis Delétraz, expresses his excitement, stating, “The Rolex 24 at Daytona is an incredibly special race, and it will be an honor to compete there next weekend, especially as a Rolex Testimonee.” The Formula 1 veteran brings a wealth of skill and expertise to the Acura ARX-06 GTP, aiming for victory in a highly competitive field.
In a thrilling development for 2024, Lamborghini returns to the Rolex 24, joining other prestigious manufacturers in the top Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, featuring Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) cars. The ROAR Before the Rolex 24, an official rehearsal, will see the entire 60-car field gather in preparation for the main event.
Reflecting on Rolex’s historic connection to motorsport, Button adds, “As a racing driver, I love Rolex’s historic connection to motor sport, a relationship that has stood the test of time. Through its dedication to speed and motor sport, Rolex created the Cosmograph, a timepiece that became the iconic Daytona. Everyone knows this watch is for the racing driver, and it’s the watch all of us want to win.” The winners of the Rolex 24 at Daytona will receive a specially engraved Daytona, continuing the tradition of precision and endurance synonymous with Rolex’s legacy in motorsport.
