Breitling launches a watch for different challenges

Thermals are key for pilots. They affect your lift, how your plane reacts. Breitlings are key for pilots as well, of course. This new Breitling though is meant for different challenges while still maintaining the technical prowess and design DNA of the brand.

Breitling CEO Georges Kern said that when he spoke with a member of their triathlon squad Jan Frodeno, he was asked what Breitling he should wear. The end result wasn’t yet in their catalog, and it became the Endurance Pro.

The new Breitling Endurance Pro takes some very special Breitling technologies and adapts them for other uses. They use Breightlight, an ultra-light-weight yet robust material the company first introduced in 2016, for the 44mm case. It is 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than steel, yet is also non-magnetic, hypoallergenic and thermally stable.

Inside the case is another Breitling hallmark, Superquartz. A Superquartz movement is in every modern Professional range watch. It is ten times more accurate than conventional quartz movements, and is also thermo-compensated. The end result is lightweight but tough watches that happily carry the Breitling look on the outside as well as the inside.

The new watch was actually inspired by an old one. CEO Georges Kern was very clear that he would be going back into the archives for watches that could inspire, and in this case inspiration came from the Breitling Sprint of the 1970s. Also a lightweight, though in that era it was a case of resin. And true to 70s style was rather colorful.

The new Endurance Pro is clearly Breitling, The strong bi-directional bezel and engraved compass points, the 3, 6, 9 indices with the wings at 12 on the black dial. The new watch is also quite colorful when using all the black as a base. An inner bezel is marked in a pulsometer scale for all the watches, but there are five different colors to choose from. The inner bezel color will also match a tactile molded crown and the Diver Pro rubber strap with a Breitlight double-pin buckle. Not enough color? Breitling offers up Outerknown ECONYL yarn NATO straps as well. Hands are of course SuperLuminova. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters and has a two year warranty.
