Mazda Philippines Announces The 2022 Mazda MX-5

Mazda Philippines introduces the 2022 Mazda MX-5 with a fresh round of color and trim changes, and a handling upgrade engineered to deliver an even more enjoyable, comfortable and connected driving experience.

Customizable under the Build Your MX-5 customer-initiated online experience on the Mazda Philippines website, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 may be configured online with preferred specification and emailed to the preferred dealership for fulfillment contact.

“With over close to 1,000 examples sold by our distributorship since 2014, The Mazda MX-5 continues to be a popular and highly regarded sports car in the Philippines,” says Steven Tan, president and CEO of Mazda Philippines. “Mazda’s lightweight, open-top formula as seen on the MX-5 has consistently been realized for more than 30 years. But we believe there is still room to involve the driver even more and enhance the emotional bond with his car. That is why we are continuing to elevate this already unique driving experience with the introduction of new features and owner-initiated options that will make future MX-5 owners even happier and fulfilled.”

Customers who visit www.mazda.ph and its Build Your MX-5 portal will now be presented with 76 possible combinations for their 2022 Mazda MX-5 order. Both the six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic and manual transmissions are available in Soft-Top and Retractable Fastback body styles.

The fabric for the Soft-Top MX-5 can be ordered in either Black or Dark Cherry colors for a more personalized finish. Those who prefer the RF (Retractable Fastback) bodystyle will have the choice of either a body colored or black roof for automatic transmission-equipped selections, or a black roof for the manual geared RF.

Club Edition for All
For the first time since its Philippine introduction in 2018, the Mazda MX-5 Club Edition will now be available in the Soft-Top guise. Similar to the RF, the 2022 Soft-Top MX-5 Club Edition will also feature the exclusive line’s signature Recaro sport bucket seats and lightweight 17-inch Dark Finish BBS Forged Wheels. Both the manual transmission-equipped MX-5 Soft Top and RF will be equipped with Bilstein Sports Dampers for a more engaging drive.

Richer Finish
Aside from the traditional Black Leather trim already available in the two-seat roadster, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 will now have a customer option for the new Terracotta Nappa leather seats. The vivid and rich brown hue of the new high quality, smooth to touch leather interiors create a warmer and more finely endowed cabin that will further soothe the senses of both driver and passenger.

With its intricate contrast stitching in the seats, door panels, steering wheel, hand brake and gear levers, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 achieves an even higher level of timeless quality and craftsmanship that its owners will appreciate for years to come.

A Distinctive On-Road Presence
For 2022, the Mazda MX-5 will be made available with a new body color. Platinum Quartz Metallic, which replaces Arctic White. It features a silky white finish that has a quartz-like translucency. The new color exudes a renewed sense of class and elegance in the MX-5 making it stand out further while maintaining its refined and distinguished demeanor.

Enhancing the Spirit of Jinba Ittai
The Mazda MX-5 is meant to be driven again and again. With its light and responsive throttle, to its intuitive steering, and of course its one of a kind top-down driving experience, the MX-5 continues to induce smiles and nurture pleasure and satisfaction each moment behind the wheel.

Mazda MX-5

To deliver an even greater sense of oneness between car and driver, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 will now feature the Kinematic Posture Control, or KPC. This new technology is unique to the MX-5. It provides a more integrated and stable turning posture even when cornering at high speed, without adding a single gram to the car’s weight.

Combined with the MX-5’s rear suspension that is already designed to generate an “anti-lift” force that pulls the car’s body down when the brakes are applied, KPC optimizes the MX-5’s driving capabilities by applying a slight braking force on the inner rear wheel under high G-force cornering. This action suppresses body roll and stabilizes the posture of both driver and passenger. And with less body roll, the MX-5 achieves better grip on the road surface.

This new stabilization effect that KPC delivers is best noticed in tight corners and rough road surfaces. In high speed cornering situations, KPC prevents the body of the car from lifting. With the greater sense of connection to the ground provided by KPC, drivers can accelerate with even greater confidence.

KPC can determine turning conditions in real time. It detects the difference in speed between left and right rear wheels, and operates linearly and seamlessly to produce an appropriate posture stabilization effect. And the harder the drive becomes, the sharper the rear end of the MX-5 becomes as it smartly adjusts its turning posture.

So from a leisurely drive to taking on winding mountain roads or race tracks, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 with KPC maximizes its potential to deliver more smiles in a wider range of driving scenarios than ever before.

The MX-5 will continue to be motivated by the potent 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine. With its 184 ps of power and 205 Nm of torque, the highly fuel-efficient motor provides the familiar instantaneous response and frugal gas consumption that has given the MX-5 its fun-to-drive reputation.

i-Activsense Safety Technologies such as Adaptive LED Headlamps, Smart City Brake Support and Lane Departure Warning will continue to provide an extra measure of confidence and protection on the road for the top-ranging MX-5 options. While Dual Front and Side Airbags are standard across the range.

As with every available Mazda, all MX-5s ordered through the Build Your MX-5 online portal will enjoy the benefits of Mazda Philippines’ 5-Year Free Service Plan. It covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals, for up to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
