Longines Opens Boutique in Mexico City

The Longines Global Champions Tour is a series of show jumping events that brings together the top 30 ranked show jumpers in the world to compete in prestigious locations. It is comprised of 15 events that offer some of the most explosive and exciting competitions in the world of show jumping.

Longines has had a long history with equestrian sports. In fact, it dates all the way back to 1878 when they produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey on his mount. In 1912, the company partnered for the first time with an international show jumping competition. Today, Longines’ involvement includes flat racing and endurance races. This year, the Longines Global Champions Tour kicked off in Mexico City. Aside from being the Title Partner, Longines is also the Official Timekeeper of the whole series.

Andre Agassi, Longines’ Ambassador for Elegance, attended the opening of the Tour in Mexico City. There, he witnessed Martin Fuchs, riding Chaplin, take the trophy at the Campo Marte arena.

Agassi is one of the great tennis players that hit the court. He dominated his rivals with precision and timing. His duels with Pete Sampras, another tennis legend, were exceptional. His unique style and the emotions he carried with him on the court made him a favorite. He retired in 2006, having accumulated 60 singles titles along with four Grand Slam singles titles. That’s not even mentioning his victories in the Davis Cup, Masters Series, and an Olympic gold medal. Agassi became a Longines ambassador in 2007, the very year that the watch brand launched a new Sport collection.

Aside from attending the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Mexico City, Agassi inaugurated the new Longines Boutique located in the shopping mall Palacio de Hierro. The Latin-American leg of the Tour offered a great opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event, a model of the Longines Equestrian Collection, a line created as a tribute to the deep bonds the brand has forged with the equestrian world. This timepiece repeats the lines of the rectangular buckle found on the show bridle of the only Swiss horse breed, the franches-montagnes.

After Mexico City, the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour will take the riders to Shanghai, Madrid, either Hamburg or Paris, and Rome before taking the final leg in Doha in November.
