How Will Lexus ‘Save The Universe?’

Some men in black drive the RC F sport coupe

IN ITS 2020 model year rendition the Lexus RC F is higher performing, better looking. Changes to the sport coupe’s exterior include adopting elements from the RC F GT3 and RC F GT500 race cars, improving aerodynamics. Its naturally aspirated V8 engine now packs 473hp, adding 5hp more. Numerous weight-loss measures, including fitting a smaller air-conditioner compressor and an innovative carbon-and-aluminum bonding technology, promise to make the car more agile. Several chassis tweaks and new 19-inch wheels fitted with staggered-width Michelin Pilot footwear guarantee improved road-holding.

All this makes the 2020 RC F the perfect car with which to save the universe.

Well, this is what Lexus and Sony Pictures propose; the RC F co-stars with the Men in Black agents as they “protect the Earth from the scum of the universe” in the new “Men in Black: International.”

The latest installment in the film series is set to open in US theaters on June 14.

“[T]he Men in Black need vehicles with the horsepower for high-speed pursuits, the most advanced alien-fighting technology, and sophisticated styling befitting the most exclusive group of secret agents in the galaxy,” Lexus asserts.

RC F

Lexus vehicles are the official fleet of the Men in Black agents, with the 2020 RC F chosen for high-velocity pursuits. Other Lexus models appearing in the movie are the RX Hybrid and LX SUVs.

In the new flick the Men in Black tackle their biggest, most global threat to date as they seek to flush out the mole in their organization.

The film, based on the Malibu Comic by Lowell Cunningham, is directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois, Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson. Listed as producers are Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, Steven Spielberg, E. Bennet Walsh, Riyoko Tanaka, David Beaubaire, Barry Sonnenfeld, Edward Cheng and Howard Chen.
“We’ve added some advanced capabilities to the RC F to assist the Men in Black agents, creating a truly one-of-a-kind alien-fighting machine. We can’t wait for moviegoers to see the RC F as they’ve never seen it before,” says Lisa Materazzo, vice president of Lexus marketing.

Jeffrey Godsick, EVP for Brand Management and Global Partnerships at Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, calls the RC F “the perfect vehicle for our team of Men in Black agents.”
The collaboration between Lexus and Sony Pictures includes the carmaker’s integration in the film, a co-branded TV spot and sponsorship of the movie premiere. A custom Men in Black RC F has also been built.

The universe is safe.
