For more than 15 years, Frederique Constant has been making beautiful watches in honour of the legendary Austin-Healey. Having joined forces back in 2004, the watchmaker has regularly paid tribute to the British sports car maker. Quite regularly, the Geneva-based Maison releases new watches and adds to its collection. This year, Frederique Constant is proud to announce the arrival of three new watches: the Vintage Rally Healey Automatic Small Seconds.

First off is the green version, which is probably the most iconic of all three versions. Extending across the whole dial, this particular shade of British racing green alludes to the legendary color of the Austin-Healey company. “British racing green” has long been associated with the vintage Austin Healey’s that are especially desirable among collectors. For this model, Frederique Constant opted for luminescent silvered appliqué hour markers with large 6 and 12 indices, one of the distinguishing features of the Vintage Rally collection.

The watch has an off-centre small seconds hand at 9 o’clock. It is counterbalanced at 3 o’clock by a date window. Running around the dial is the flange with a 60-minute scale, all set within a 40 mm diameter case. The perforated strap has received particular attention as it recalls the upholstery of the beautiful cars from the 1940s to the 1970s, as well as the gloves worn by the gentlemen that drove these sports cars.

Inside the polished stainless steel case is the FC-345 calibre automatic movement that has a 38-hour power reserve and beats at a frequency of 28,800 alt/h. The case has a height of 11.15 mm and has a case back engraved with a Healey NOJ393 vintage car (which was purchased by a collector for €155 in 1969 and sold for nearly €1 million in December 2011) being driven at full throttle.

The second version is presented a little differently, as it sports a grey motif. Modern and understated, the dial and strap are both rendered in mid-grey hues. The piece is characterised by 50 shades of grey, its steel case, leather strap, dial, index hour markers and hands included.

Finally, the third version is supposed to be the most classic piece. The case is rose gold plated, as are the hour markers, hands, and crown. This sunny shade of gold sets off the midnight blue dial. Day and night, the classic and classy elegance of the latest Vintage Rally Healey Automatic Small Seconds shines through.
