Bell & Ross BR 03: The Revitalized Classic

The Refined Evolution of Bell & Ross' BR 03 Collection

Since its inception in 1994, Bell & Ross has been synonymous with professional aviation watches that meet the demands of extreme conditions. The BR 03 collection, a pillar of their identity since 2006, draws inspiration from aircraft cockpits and aeronautical instrumentation. This inspiration guarantees not only style but also legibility, functionality, precision, and reliability in every Bell & Ross watch.

In 2005, the BR 01 made its grand entrance with a substantial 46 mm case. The following year, the 42 mm model took the watch world by storm. Fast forward to 2023, and Bell & Ross once again surprises us with the BR 03, featuring a refined 41 mm case and a host of remarkable features.

Designing a watch case is a meticulous process, where every millimeter matters. Altering an iconic model is a challenge, but Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross’ co-founder and Creative Director, succeeded in maintaining the BR 03’s identity while adapting it to modern times.

The slight reduction in case dimensions from 42 mm to 41 mm is both delicate and powerful, immediately noticeable, and refreshing. The watch’s lugs have slimmed down from 4.5 mm to 4 mm, adding to the newfound rhythm and aesthetics.

The BR 03’s progression goes beyond its dimensions. It now has a slimmer rubber strap and a new automatic movement, the BR-CAL.302, with a power reserve of 54 hours. This means you can leave your watch unused for two days and expect it to reliably display the time.

The Bell & Ross BR 03 collection showcases a harmonious blend of novelty and classic charm. These iconic watches now house the latest automatic BR-CAL.302 caliber, and they are water-resistant up to 100 meters.

The collection comprises three models in Bell & Ross’ signature black case: Black Matte, Phantom, and Heritage, all sporting a resolutely retro look. Additionally, three polished steel variations – Black Steel, Blue Steel, and Golden Heritage – feature black, blue, and brown dials, respectively. The Golden Heritage version introduces a trendy vintage spirit to the mix.

The BR 03 Copper stands out with its captivating copper dial, achieved through a meticulous galvanization process. Engraved black numerals and indexes provide depth, while blue metallic hands deliver a modern yet charming retro appearance.

The BR 03 Military Ceramic boldly combines a matte black ceramic case with a khaki dial, paying homage to the brand’s military-inspired roots.

The story of Bell & Ross began in the confines of an airplane cockpit, fuelled by the desire to make watches directly inspired by aeronautical instrumentation. The brand’s dedication to innovation and excellence remains unwavering. While retaining its essential character, the BR 03 has accepted change with the introduction of the BR-CAL.302 caliber, which offers a stunning 54-hour power reserve.

With a collection that now includes models with black ceramic cases, polished steel variations, a copper dial model, and a khaki-colored ceramic variant, Bell & Ross continues to prove its know-how in the field of professional watchmaking, where style, functionality, and readability converge in perfect harmony.
