Originally introduced in 1989, the inspiration behind the Tank Américaine watch was drawn from the Tank Cintrée timepiece, which lent its curved case design to the former. The Tank Américaine was also the first watch to feature an adjustable strap that was specifically adapted to the well-known folding buckle, for which Cartier had filed a patent in 1910.
Fast forward to 2023, and the Maison’s design studio is further strengthening the original design of the watch and its curved shape by refining its lines and adding more agility to its appearance. The watch’s form is made even more pure and elegant with the dial style and the seamless integration of the brancards into the extension of the strap.
Equipped with the new 1899 MC movement, designed for slimmer cases, the Tank Américaine watch is available in all-gold and steel with a leather strap, rose gold and diamonds with a leather strap, or diamond-paved white and rose gold with a metal bracelet. The links of the bracelet are designed specifically for the Tank Américaine, featuring polished facets that reflect and refract light beautifully.
