With the results coming in from the German automotive publication’s subsidiaries from the UK, France and Asia, the results showed that the Ingolstadt-based carmaker with the Four Rings topped seven of the 14 categories in the quality rankings, mimicking Audi’s success in the previous year. Auto Bild’s readers were presented with a choice of 36 brands spread over the 14 categories and Audi won half of those with their A1 taking the subcompact segment, the A3 winning the compact segment followed by the A4 in the midsize category. Other segments that Audi claimed were the Full-size (A7 Sportback), Convertible (A3 Cabriolet), Midsize SUV (Q3) and Full size (Q7).
In addition to the quality ranking, other categories in the readers’ survey were those for design and the price vs. performance ratio. In the design category, the Audi A6 took the top spot while the Audi S5 Cabriolet was deemed best in the price vs. performance ratings for convertibles costing over €50,000.
Audi’s win in nine categories allowed it to secure overall victories in two others—the full-size segment and the large SUV class for the Audi Q8.
“When it comes to quality, Audi is—and remains—number one. Quality without compromise is one of our core competencies and is a central product pledge,” said Michael Neumayer, Head of Audi Corporate Quality. He noted that getting the nod of Auto Bild readers is “both an acknowledgment and an obligation.”
