Alpiner Extreme Automatic

Rebirth of an emblematic outdoor Alpina model

In 2022, Alpina is launching a new design for its emblematic Extreme line which first came out nearly 20 years ago. With a sporting DNA and an assertive design, these timepieces emphasise the brand’s spirit of adventure and the look of the new Alpiner Extreme Automatic will leave nobody indifferent: powerful and restless, with a more compact and modern case. Now available in three colours (black, green, blue), running over a finely textured dial with a refined date, hands and indexes, in a new case reduced to 41×42.5 mm. A smaller size more in keeping with today’s trend for greater everyday comfort, whether it is dedicated to extreme or urban sports.

Alpiner Extreme Automatic

This is the most significant change for the Extreme Automatic since its creation in 2009! Designed for adventure, Alpina’s primary mission, the timepiece asserts Alpina’s spirit of adventure through its uncompromising look: maximum readability and the ability to withstand the most extreme conditions. An operational watch whose identity is inseparable from its integrated rubber strap, its bezel with triangular screws and its cushion-shaped steel case.

Joining the Alpiner collection, the Extreme Automatic has gradually confirmed its vocation dedicated to exploring nature. Today, Alpina is offering a new version which meets a twofold challenge: conserving the conquering spirit of the Extreme Automatic by conferring a more assertive livery on it and giving it a new 41×42.5 mm size, making it ideal for everyday use. A response in line with lifestyle changes, where one can work in the city but have the mountains and extreme sports as their passion. All activities which require wearing a timepiece that is both compact and indisputably rugged.

A turning point for Alpina
The new Alpiner Extreme Automatic is a turning point for Alpina, whose future direction will be to concentrate on its mechanical DNA and its outdoor vocation. The timepiece is thus presented in a brand new 41×42.5 mm size. Its new look is highly operational. It goes straight to the point: three hands and the date which stand out, contrasting greatly against a new dial, available in black, blue and green.

At the heart of this new design, there is the typical steel case of the Extreme line, reworked for a more modern look: a strong brushed-finish cushion within which are a bezel and a circular dial. Around its bezel, there are the six triangular-section screws, an allusion to the Alpina logo and aesthetic figure that is to be found consistently since 2009. Likewise, the integrated strap (with no joining link with the case), made of textured rubber has also been kept but revisited to offer as much comfort as strength and modernity.

On different points of the sturdy case are the middle reinforcement (at 9 o’clock) and the crown protector (at 3 o’clock). But it still sports the rubber grip so liked for its effectiveness, ease of handling with bare hands or with gloves. This crown is screwed on to guarantee water-resistance at 20 ATM / 200 metres.

Three colours for a single price
The crown matches the three new variations of the Alpiner Extreme Automatic: all-black, midnight blue and forest green, echoing Alpina’s alpine origins. Each version shares luminescent white indexes (doubled at midday), two hands, also luminescent, completed by the second hand with the famous red triangle tip, the brand’s logo. Each of these dials is overlaid with the same, finely stamped, triangle design. It creates a slight raised pattern on the timepiece giving it body and personality and allowing it to capture the light with a unique shine.

Lovers of intricate mechanisms will not be disappointed. The AL-525 calibre is totally visible through a sapphire back. Automatic, it offers 38 hours of power reserve. But the hardest thing is still to come: choosing! Indeed these three new non limited timepieces, are available at the same price, one of the most attractive on the market of fine Swiss Made watchmaking and crafted for adventure, Alpina’s primary mission.
