A Man for the People

The new Capital Glashütte Senator Chronograph is worthy of its post.

In Berlin, on the eve of the Berlinale Film Festival, Glashütte Original was setting the stage for a premier of their own. The Capital Edition of the Senator Chronograph was due to make an entrance.

And in the Berlinale Film Festival, the Senator Chronograph Capital Edition found the perfect backdrop. The Capital Senator is a stainless steel limited edition of 100. If you’ve ever thought it was impossible to get a hundred good Senators at one time, well, this may be your only chance. The Capital Edition has a dial of what they call “Bourbon Grey” which sets the tone nicely. There is a further limited release of 25 pieces in red gold. And, if you’re looking for the higher level still, consider the platinum model with a dial in “Dry Silver.” There will be only 5 pieces available worldwide.

The qualities of the Senator are not strained: it’s a dynamic piece, to be sure, with in-house fashioned dials. The detailing on the pieces may be what catches your eye, though, with highlights picked out in beige, in white, in blue. Of course, when those dealings turn dark, the Senator is right there ready to provide illumination, with Super-LumiNova highlighting the details.

Glashütte paid the detailing particular mind, as the chronograph functions provide both a focus for attention and the opportunity to further enhance the quality of this wristwatch. Chronographs always have a lot of information right on the dial, but the Senator Capital Edition manages to remain readable and exciting. Every piece has white gold hands sweeping the dials, and the Calibre 37 within makes sure that those hands stay where they’re supposed to.
