The Source of Life

Oris continues its mission to bring change for the better with this limited edition watch.

Despite efforts to conserve, preserve and protect our waters, they are still in danger of being polluted and mistreated by humankind. Oris acknowledges the importance of this natural resource, and celebrates this with the creation of the Oris Source of Life Limited Edition.

As a model, Oris chose the River Rhine as it runs close to the village of Hölstein where Oris has been based since 1904, and because it feeds water to the Orisback, a brook that flows near the manufacture from which the company takes its name.

The watch’s case back is embossed with a map of the River Rhine, which runs 1,233 kilometers through six countries, from its source at the Lai da Tuma, or Tomasee, a lake 2,343 meters up in the Swiss Alps, and runs through to the North Sea.

The Oris Source of Life Limited Edition is based on the Aquis and sports the same high-performance functions the line is known for. It has a 43.5 mm stainless steel case, water resistant to 300 meters. Its uni-directional rotating bezel is armed with a grey tungsten insert with a 60-minute timer scale for safely measuring dive times.

Inside the case is an automatic movement, the Oris Cal. 733 with a date indicated by a white indicator visible through a circular aperture running around the dial. The screwed down stainless steel case back is embossed with a map the River Rhine, as well an an engraved edition number (limited to 2,343 pieces). It comes with a grey rubber strap with an Oris-developed safety anchor and quick-adjust sliding sledge folding clasp. The box comes with an alternate stainless steel bracelet.

Inspired by water, the Oris Source of Life Limited Edition reminds us of how valuable water is to life, human or otherwise. Water feeds. Water sustains. Water connects life among races and species.
