IWC Adds Three Pilot’s Watch Models with Lacquered Dials

On its 150th year, IWC Schaffhausen unveiled three limited edition Pilot’s Watches at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie.

During the recently concluded Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva last January, IWC Schaffhausen presented three new models from their Pilot’s watch line with lacquered dials in either white or blue as part of the Jubilee collection to commemorate the company’s 150th anniversary.

The Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “150 Years” (Ref. IW502708) is the only model in the collection with an annual calendar. The blue lacquered dial displays the month, date, and day on three apertures just below the 12 o’clock hour marker. Inside its 46.2 mm stainless steel case is the IWC-manufactured calibre 52850, a movement that needs only one adjustment a year – at the end of February. It has a power reserve of 7 days and beats at a frequency of 28,800 A/h. This watch is limited to only 100 examples.

The Big Pilot’s Watch Big Date Edition “150 Years” (Ref. 5105) is the first watch in the collection with large date displays. Two discs read off the date: the first disc presents the tens and the second displays the ones of the date. Inside the watch is the IWC-manufactured calibre 59235. When designing this watch, designers wanted to keep the dials as clean as possible, so they decided to put the power reserve indicator at the back of the watch, keeping the dial uncluttered. This watch comes in either a blue (Ref. IW510503) or a white (Ref. IW510504) lacquered dial. The two models are limited to 100 watches each.

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “150 Years” (Ref. IW377725) carries the mechanical chronograph calibre 79320, a movement that beats at a frequency of 28,800 A/h with a 44-hour power reserve. It has a soft iron case for protection against magnetic fields. It’s screw-down crown helps in giving it a 60-meter water resistance rating, and its glass is secured against displacement by drops in air pressure. Its white-lacquered dial keeps everything neat and clean. This model is limited to 1,000 pieces.
