THE 1930S was a period of breakthroughs in style--led by the invention of nylon and significant developments in women’s liberation. It was during this period that the feminine silhouette became widely celebrated, inspiring artists and designers to come up with works attuned to the lady’s physique. Hamilton’s latest series of watches from the American Classic Brooke XS collection, likewise, takes after a similar muse. Greatly influenced by its precursor from the 1930s, its uneven stainless steel case is reminiscent of a woman’s voluptuous curves, with a girth noticeably narrow at the top, but wider at the bottom. Quirky Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9 o’clock, and thick-set luminous hands further enhance its eccentric feminine charm.
