A kiss is just a kiss, except when it is The Kiss. The right kiss has the power to awaken a sleeping princess, or heal the hurt in a sweet child’s heart, or even enliven a passion you didn’t know existed. Glashütte Original commemorates the International Day of the Kiss (July 6, in case you were wondering) with the release of the PanoMatic Luna, a special limited edition purely from the heart.
The watch is simply breathtaking, just as a kiss should be. The predominantly-white watch is clean and the perfect canvas for the exquisite touches of red. It’s not in-your-face-red, it’s sublime and special. The white mother-of-pearl dial has the right luster. The watch is studded with diamonds and rubies, and a special display for the class moon phase.
The moon phase display is sweet, as it shows the moon and his forever-friends, the stars. The curve of the moon phase display is sleek yet artistic – achieved my the masters in the watchmaker’s manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany.
Also on the dial is the off-centre hour and minute display accented with 18 ruby indexes, set in pairs. Of course the rubies need to be paired together, as this watch speaks of love and romance. There is a small seconds display too, in classic Pano style, in the lower half of the dial. The characteristic Glashütte Original Panorama Date adorns the right side, keeping the moon phase display company. It sounds like a lot to be on a dial, but Glashütte Original has mastered the art of balance.
Adding a bit of dazzle are the 64 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel, creating a perfect from for the beautiful dial. A bit large for a lady at 39.4mm, this watch is well worth the extra landscape. The red Louisiana alligator leather strap is a wonderful match to the rubies on the dial.
Powering the ode to love that is the PanoMatic Luna is the manufactory’s own Calibre 90-12 automatic movement. Traditional Glashütte elements are in this watch too – the three-quarter plate, the blued screws, and the fine finishes.
And as with the real kiss, this one homage is limited to just 50 pieces. Guard your Kiss as you would your heart.
