Chopard is proud to be associated with The Green Carpet Fashion Awards which will be presented during the Milan Fashion Week, by the Camera Nazionale della Moda and Eco-Age, at the inaugural awards ceremony last September 24th at Teatro alla Scala. The trophies, specially designed by Caroline Scheufele, Chopard Co-President and Creative Director, are made of ethical Fairmined certified gold and crafted in the High Jewellery workshops of the Maison.
Revealed for the very first time this year in Venice during the 74th Mostra, the awards feature the pomegranate whose seeds symbolize sustainability, and are crafted from ethical Fairmined certified gold, extracted by artisanal and small-scale miners as part of Chopard’s Journey to Sustainable Luxury.
The Green Carpet Fashion Awards honoured 12 laureates; exceptional artisans, mills, producers and brands, in 12 different categories. For instance, Chiara Vigo is announced to be the first ever recipient of The Green Carpet Fashion Awards Artisanal Laureate 2017. She is thought to be the last of her generation to make the incredible sea silk, known as Bisso. True symbol of Made in Italy, she is considered to be the only person left to harvest the precious sea silk, spin it and make it shine like gold.
“Designing the award was an honour that would have been impossible to pass up,” said Caroline Scheufele, Chopard Co-President and Creative Director. “These awards are closely aligned with our values at Chopard, especially with the Journey to Sustainable Luxury and the celebration of the artisans involved in all levels of our supply chain. It was only right that the statuette should reflect the values at the heart of the event.”
“The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia will shine a spotlight on the people behind the scenes in the fashion industry, celebrating the talent of artisan mills and Italian innovation. Chopard has been working for many years on supporting and protecting the people in their supply chains – which made them a perfect partner to produce the awards (from Fairmined gold of course!).” Livia Firth, Eco-Age Founder and Creative Director.
“It’s wonderful having Chopard as a partner of our event, together with Livia, who does incredible work for sustainability with Eco-Age. We are very proud to launch this project that involves all the associates of CNMI, because sustainability is one of the key pillars of our strategy. This is the first edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards and it represents the energy of the beginning of a journey that we hope that be long and productive. The pomegranate and the woman featured in the award epitomize the symbol of the beginning of everything,” Carlo Capasa, CNMI Chairman.
